10 of the 2022 Nissan Altima’s Best Comfort & Convenience Features

If you’re looking for a midsize sedan, chances are you’re going to be traveling a lot. While SUVs are becoming more and more popular, the midsize sedan still carries its own unique perks—it’s more fuel-efficient and easier to navigate. The midsize sedan is also smaller than the SUV, meaning more financial room for standard tech and comfort features at a lower price. The 2022 Nissan Altima has proven to have the comfort and convenience features needed to compete with its SUV competitors. While there are many to cover, let’s focus on the 10 best.

10. An Impressive Climate Control System

Over the course of your life, how many thermostat-based fights have you had with loved ones? There’s always that one person who freezes to death while everyone else has hot flashes, and vice versa. Thanks to the Altima’s available Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control, a feature available in the higher-end trims, both you and your front-seat passenger can travel comfortably. You can set your temperature to 66 degrees Fahrenheit while your partner relaxes comfortably at 72 degrees.

Furthermore, the Altima includes the available Remote Engine Start System with Intelligent Climate Control, another luxury feature available on specific priced models. You can adjust these presets long before you even get into the car. Whether it’s a cold winter day or a blazing hot summer afternoon, the 2022 Altima will keep you and your passengers comfortable.

9. Heated Amenities

While dual-zone climate control is exciting, your HVAC system isn’t the only thing there to help during those cold, winter days. The 2022 Altima also has a heated steering wheel and heated seats depending on the model. Leather is beautiful, but it’s not always the most comfortable during extreme temperatures. These handy features not only help you stay warm, they also make leather seating an all-around win for everyone. The heated steering wheel is pleasant to those with chronic conditions such as carpal tunnel or arthritis, especially during a long drive.

8. An Impressive Memory System

You want your partner to drive, but you hate the hassle of having to readjust your seat, steering wheel, and mirrors the morning after. Thanks to the 2022 Altima’s Memory System, this is no longer an issue. Simply adjust your presets, program them to each profile, and you’re good to go. There are two simple buttons for person 1 and person 2. All you have to do is click on the appropriate button, and all your settings will be there. This is a great convenience feature for people who co-own their 2022 Altima.

7. Available ProPILOT Assist

Driver-assist features are great safety assets that help make the drive far less risky. Nissan’s ProPILOT Assist does more than keep you safe; it lessens your stress load while on the road. The new Altima’s ProPILOT Assist features include distance monitoring that will automatically maintain distance between you and the vehicle ahead based on the traffic flow. This modern cruise control feature will adjust your speed when necessary and even has the power to brake when needed. It will also keep you centered in the appropriate lane, not just in straight stretches but in curves as well.

6. See All Around the Car Without Having to Even Move

Say goodbye to rogue shopping carts and disoriented squirrels. Thanks to the Intelligent Around View Camera, you can view your Altima from every angle when it’s time for takeoff. Whether you want to use the 360 top-down (birds-eye) view, or zoom in on the front, rear, or curbside closeup area, this camera has you covered. You can even view two areas at once thanks to split-screen mode. This split-screen mode is handy when you’re trying to parallel park or leave a tight parking space.

5. Traffic Sign Recognition

Unless a sign has flashing lights around it, it’s easy to miss common road signs in the real world. While traffic signs are important, your mind is probably elsewhere when you’re treading down the highway. This is where Nissan’s Traffic Sign Recognition feature comes in. Once you pass a road sign, this technology temporarily stores that data in its system, giving you access to the information if you forget. The only downside is that you can’t pretend you missed the speed limit sign anymore.

4. Built-in Ports

While we certainly don’t recommend using your laptop while driving, remote work is becoming more common. Plus, you never know when something work or school-related may pop up on the go. Whether you pull over to send an email or your passenger wants to stay productive on your commute, the 2022 Nissan Altima includes built-in ports that can be used for charging and for media connectivity. You’ll get a standard USB, USB-C, and aux port with the new Altima, compatible with many phones, computers, and tablets.

3. Built-in Navigation

Whether you’re off the grid or cruising town, the Altima’s available built-in navigation feature is there to guide you. Altima’s NissanConnect Services allows you to send directions directly to your car’s navigation center. It also offers walking directions back to your car, which is especially handy when you’re traveling somewhere new or using a large parking lot or garage. This feature is compatible with Voice Recognition, and it includes the Premium Traffic feature, which provides drivers with real-time traffic condition updates.

2. Versatile Interior Space

Space is a perk that SUVs have over the midsize sedan. With that being said, the Nissan Altima offers plenty of cargo and passenger space. The best part is that it’s fully customizable, so when it’s just you and a front seat passenger, you can fold the 40/60-split back seats down to gain 42.09 cubic feet of cargo space. To give you an idea of how much space this is, it’s over 10 cubic feet more than a 2-door 2022 Jeep Wrangler has. While many SUVs offer more space than the Wrangler, this is still an impressive feat. When passengers are loaded up, the Altima’s trunk will still supply 15.4 cubic feet of space.

1. Safety Shield 360

Now, for our favorite convenience feature—the Nissan Altima Safety Shield 360. Even lower Altima trims like the SV include this standard safety suite, which offers up to 6 different driver-assist features. These features include the following:
Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection—This technology monitors how much space is available between you and the vehicle ahead. It can also detect pedestrians, automatically applying the brakes when necessary.

  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert—Getting out of a parking lot is one of the most frustrating things to experience when you’re driving. Thanks to Rear Cross Traffic Alert, you no longer have to worry about backing out in front of another vehicle or getting honked at when you’re trying to leave your parking space. It notifies you when a possibly non-visible vehicle approaches from behind.
  • Rear Automatic Braking—For those moments when you don’t respond quickly enough to your alert, Rear Automatic Braking kicks in and stops the Altima in its tracks.
  • Lane Departure Warning—Yep, you guessed it—this one warns you when you’re unintentionally drifting into the wrong lane.
  • Blind Spot Warning—This one warns you when it’s unsafe to switch lanes due to vehicles in your blind spot area.

Depending on what type of car you’re buying, features like the ones available on the 2022 Altima can significantly increase the final cost. The desire for safety and comfort will always come at a price when searching for a new vehicle. Those looking for both from a sedan should look no further than the 2022 Altima.
