The new 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 is a pickup truck like no other. As a full-size, light-duty model, it can handle tough jobs and perform well in the city. It’s an all-around hero in the truck world, and Chevy fans have been drooling over this model for years, and it just keeps getting better and better. Every model year is a new opportunity for advanced features and stellar performance. So, without further ado, let’s count down the top 10 coolest features on the 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500!
#10 – Body Styles
When you think of a truck, the first thing that pops into most people’s heads is a two-seater pickup. However, we’ve come a long way since the days when regular cab body styles ruled the roads. Nowadays, we’ve got extended and double cab body styles and a trio of bed lengths to choose from. The 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 is available as a Regular Cab with an 8.2-ft bed, a Double Cab with a 6.6-ft bed, or a Crew Cab with either a 5.8-ft or 6.6-ft bed. Most trucks these days have entirely eliminated the regular cab body style. However, the Silverado 1500 still has this model in its lineup, which makes it very cool!
#9 – Paint Options
Another cool feature for the new Chevy Silverado 1500 is the number of paint colors that are available. We often see trucks in black, white, or red with very little personality or flair. However, the Silverado 1500 is offered in ten unique paint colors so that you can show off your own personal style. It comes in classic shades such as Black, Summit White, and Red Hot. But it is also available in unique shades, including Havana Brown Metallic, Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, Cajun Red Tintcoat, and Northsky Blue Metallic. And if you are a fan of silver, there are three different variations to choose from, including Shadow Gray Metallic, Silver Ice Metallic, and Satin Steel Metallic.
#8 – Powertrains
Here’s where the process of picking a pickup truck gets fun. The 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 is available with five different powertrains. That’s almost unheard of, and the lineup varies depending on the trim level. The standard powertrain on the LT and RST models is a turbocharged 2.7-liter 4-cylinder engine coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Using start-stop technology, it gets up to 21 mpg combined (20 city/23 highway), and it generates 310 hp and 348 lb-ft of torque.
Next, the 4.3-liter V6 motor with a 6-speed automatic transmission is under the hood of the Work Truck, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss models. With a fuel economy of 17 mpg combined (16 city/21 highway), it produces 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque. The third option is a robust 5.3-liter V8 mated with a 6-speed, 8-speed, or 10-speed automatic transmission, depending on the trim. This beast gets up to 20 mpg combined (17 city/24 highway), and it can make 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque.
If you are looking for a diesel option, then the 3.0-liter I-6 turbo diesel motor with a 10-speed automatic transmission is the way to go. With start-stop technology, it gets 27 mpg combined (23 city/33 highway), and it generates 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Finally, a 6.2-liter V8 with a 10-speed automatic transmission is available on the top trims of the 2020 Chevy Silverado. This engine is rated for a fuel economy of 17 mpg (16 city/20 highway), and it pumps out 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.
#7 – Towing Capacity
Now that we covered the epic lineup of powertrains, you’re probably expecting to see some pretty high numbers when it comes to towing. We are not here to disappoint! The towing capacity of the 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 varies greatly depending on the powertrain, but even the smallest engine can manage to pull up to 7,000 pounds. The V6 motor can handle 7,900 pounds, and the smaller V8 engine can haul 10,600 pounds. Meanwhile, the larger V8 powertrain can pull up to 13,400 pounds without breaking a sweat.
#6 – The Base Trim
The first model in the Chevy Silverado 1500 lineup is the Work Truck. Featuring vinyl upholstery and rubber flooring, this cool trim is very easy to clean. Just quickly rinse it down, and you will be ready to move on to the next job. It also comes standard with the excellent Chevrolet Infotainment 3 infotainment system. With a 7-inch color touchscreen, this system is compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth.
#5 – The Trail Boss Models
The 2020 Silverado 1500 has two trims that are outfitted for off-roading straight from the factory. Building on the Custom trim is the Custom Trail Boss, which gets a 2-inch suspension lift to make going over large rocks easier. But it still keeps the Custom model’s upgraded 6-speaker stereo and 60/40 split-folding bench seat in the back.
The second Trial Boss model is the LT Trail Boss. It builds off of the LT trim and features carpeted floors, all-weather floor mats for protection, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel for a touch of elegance. The cloth upholstery and 4G LTE Wifi hotspot carry over from the LT trim as well.
#4 – The RST Trim
Do you want a little more technology, but you don’t want to pay too much? The RST is a great mid-level model that can provide you with exactly what you need. Featuring remote start technology and keyless entry, you can get the vehicle warmed up before ever stepping foot outside. It’s perfect for winter months when you want to hop inside a warm truck in the mornings.
#3 – The LTZ Trim
Coming in at the #3 spot on our list of cool features is the LTZ trim. This model takes a step into luxury with its perforated leather seating throughout the cabin. It also gets an upgraded 8-inch touchscreen for the new voice-activated infotainment interface. The experience inside this model is quite an extraordinary one.
#2 – The High Country Trim
The top-of-the-line High Country trim is well-known among Chevy fans for being the ultimate luxury truck. With ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a full leather interior, you will never be uncomfortable in a High Country. It even includes an upgraded 7-speaker Bose sound system with a separate subwoofer so that you can fully experience the bass in your favorite songs.
#1 – Construction
The coolest feature on the new 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 is the truck itself. Constructed out of high-strength roll-formed steel, this beast is no slouch. It’s incredibly tough, and it can handle whatever you throw at it. It is also designed for work. In the back, you will find the industry-first power up/down tailgate and 3-times as many cargo tie-downs as any other competitor on the market.
