The Nissan Murano Will Shield You From Danger

Driving is something that we take for granted, but the roads we drive on can be fraught with peril. Bad roads, bad weather, and bad drivers combined to create numerous hazards everywhere we go. Car accidents happen every day, even to the best of drivers. Thankfully, today’s modern cars, including the 2021 Nissan Murano, are becoming more and more tech-savvy and are coming equipped with some pretty miraculous safety features. Nissan has stepped out in front with its crossover Murano to help keep us safe while we are out on the roads we travel day in and day out.

Nissan Murano – Safer Than All the Rest?

If you are looking at crossovers, then chances are you have a family and are interested in finding a vehicle that will keep them safe in the advent of an accident. But in addition to checking the crash test scores published by agencies and organizations such as the NHTSA and IIHS, these days, you should also pay attention to available active safety features. The modern safety features that come standard in vehicles such as the Nissan Murano are important because they can not only protect you and your family during an accident, they can even prevent some accidents from ever happening.

One of the safety features that come with the Murano is the automatic emergency braking assistance technology. Nowadays, it’s pretty much expected that all new cars come with some form of automatic braking assist technology, and the Murano is no exception. The idea is that when you come across an unexpected situation while driving, such as a car or other object in front of you that shouldn’t be there, your vehicle will automatically apply extra pressure to your brakes so that you stop even harder and faster than you alone were capable of. Automatic braking assist is just one safety feature that has saved countless lives, and we’re all better off for it.

However, the Murano does not simply stop at braking assist – the vehicle can even apply the brakes automatically if it senses an impending collision. This is particularly valuable if you are distracted for a moment and do not have time to hit the brakes – now your car can take care of that for you. It can even detect pedestrians as well as other vehicles, giving you a second set of eyes for those times when someone steps into the street without looking both ways. This is not a self-driving feature that you can use every time you need to come to a stop, but it serves as an invaluable backup for those times that you really need it.

Another safety feature that the Nissan Murano comes with is the high beam assist. Now, this is a safety feature that will help keep you and those around you safe without inadvertently causing yet another accident. Have you ever been driving down a dark highway at night, and an oncoming car in the other lane wouldn’t turn down its high beams, thus leaving you temporarily blinded and unable to see? Fortunately, this is a safety hazard that Nissan is working hard to avoid.

With the Murano’s high beam assist, when your vehicle detects another oncoming vehicle, it will automatically turn down your high beams. When the oncoming car has passed, your high beams go right back on. This feature allows you to see more of the road in front of you, which could potentially prevent a collision with a wild animal or a pedestrian, but it also keeps drivers around you safe and comfortable so that they don’t inadvertently cause a collision either. Everybody is safer and happier with the high beam assist technology. The Murano will also automatically turn your headlights on when it gets dark, making sure you can always see where you are going.

Beyond Lights and Brakes

While automatic braking assistant and high beam assist technologies are wonderful additions to any safety-conscious vehicle, these days, more and more vehicles are offering these features. What truly sets the Nissan Murano apart from all the rest is the Safety Shield 360. When driving down the interstate, are you able to see everything around you? Even when you are good at keeping an eye on your mirrors, there are still certain areas around your vehicle that you are unable to see. These areas are known as blind spots.

Every vehicle has blind spots, and no matter how good of a driver you are, you need to be aware of these blind spots and do your best to predict and overcome the hazards they cause. The Nissan Murano works hard to help you overcome these blind spots with the Safety Shield 360 technology. Thanks to the 360 sensors, your vehicle can alert you when another vehicle is hiding in your blind spot or when you unintentionally drift out of your lane. Whether you’re trying to merge lanes and momentarily lost track of another car, or you got distracted or drowsy for just a moment, the Safety Shield 360 technology will keep an eye on the road and alert you if there is a hazard you need to be aware of. Now, this is the kind of technology that will truly keep you safe.

Part of the Safety Shield 360 suite is the rear automatic braking technology. I don’t know about you, but I, for one, have hit my fair share of telephone poles and parking medians when backing up. Not because I wasn’t looking but because I just couldn’t see them. Nissan has stuck a handy little feature known as rear automatic braking technology into the Murano that helps drivers to see what they originally could not, thus preventing even more dings, bangs, or worse when backing up. If the Murano senses you are going to back into something, it will automatically brake, once again working hard to keep you and your loved ones safe.

Staying Safe Requires More Than Just Talk

When it comes to the Nissan Murano’s safety features, these are merely the tip of the iceberg. I could go on and on all day about the fancy safety options that come with this SUV. Forward collision warning, bird’s eye view cameras, intelligent cruise control, and more all come together to make a vehicle that you and your family can truly depend on. Features like these make me wonder why some manufacturers are still selling cars that don’t come with a robust suite of active driver-assist technologies. We all know that we are not yet to the point where an intelligent car can keep you 100% safe in every situation, but having these features is far better than not having them.

With the Nissan Murano, you can count on Nissan Safety Shield technologies to protect you and your family wherever your travels may take you. From busy highways to crowded parking lots, the advanced driver-assist features of this SUV will help you avoid and mitigate common accident types. I, for one, look forward to seeing what Nissan comes up with next year when even more technological advances have been made. It’s nice to know that Nissan is building more than just vehicles to get you to your destination: it’s building partners you can count on to help keep you safe.
