Performance and Fuel Efficiency
The 2020 Chevy Blazer has three different engines to offer, with each one appearing on a variety of the Blazer’s trims. The engine that comes standard with the L and LT is the previously mentioned 2.5L 4-cylinder, which is capable of producing 193 hp and 188 lb-ft of torque. For those looking for a bit more power, you can equip your Blazer with a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that is making its appearance in the lineup for the first time this year. This engine can generate 230 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque while obtaining an EPA rating of 21 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway. Lastly, you may opt for the even stronger 3.6L V6, which comes standard on the RS and Premier trims and is an available upgrade option for the 2LT and 3LT. This engine produces 308 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. The 3.6L V6 found on the Blazer retains decent fuel efficiency given its power with 20 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the highway.
The 2020 Ford Edge can be fitted with two different engines. The engine found standard on the Edge is a 2.0L EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine that produces 250 hp. This EcoBoost engine does retain slightly higher fuel-efficiency in front-wheel-drive than the Blazer with ratings of 21 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway, but for the price difference, the Blazer seems to be the better deal. Plus, it’s worth noting that each engine comes paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission with the Blazer, whereas the Edge only supports an 8-speed transmission.
