The luxury truck market is still a pretty recent development in the automotive world, but one we love to see. Trucks used to be bare-bones, meant for work rather than comfort, but with the rise in popularity of these vehicles has come a rise in comfort and convenience features. Now, even a base model truck still feels a little luxurious. The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 comes in eight different trims––Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, Denali, AT4X, and Denali Ultimate––but which one is going to offer the most luxury? As your GMC Sierra dealer, we know all of the details about each of these trims, and we are ready to show you what each one has to offer when it comes to luxury features.
The GMC Sierra Pro, SLE, Elevation, and SLT: Mostly the Basics
We are going to start off with the lower set of trims. As you might expect, these models offer the least amount of luxury features, which makes sense as they come in at a lower price. All of these trims come with the option for you to choose a crew cab, regular cab, or double cab, depending on how much space in the back you need for your travels and any jobs you may be using the GMC Sierra for.
There are some standout features for these trims. The Pro trim can come in the new Graphite Edition, which has 20-inch high gloss-black painted aluminum wheels, remote start, an up-to-date and high-tech theft deterrent system, recovery hooks, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. The SLT has a wider, bolder bumper, fascia, and grille design than the other trims. The Elevation also has a unique bumper, fascia, and grille design, and it also has gloss-black mesh inserts within the grille, giving it an incredibly eye-catching look from the front.
The SLE, Elevation, and SLT all come standard with GMC Connected Services, which you can also add on to the Pro trim. What is luxury about this? With the connected services, you’ll have remote access to your vehicle for ease of use, available in-vehicle apps, and a wi-fi hotspot that lets you stay connected wherever you roam with ease. Starting at the SLE trim, you also get the larger 13.4-inch infotainment screen and 12.3-inch driver information screen.
The GMC Sierra AT4 and AT4X: Perfect for Off-Roading
Moving up the trim line brings you to the AT4 and AT4X, two trims designed to offer the most off-roading capability possible. While these trucks are meant to get down and dirty, they don’t lack when it comes to luxury levels of technology and quality. Both trims are incredibly beautiful and athletic looking, yet they offer a sense of ruggedness that the previous trims do not.
The AT4 is a fantastic option for off-roading in style. This trim includes a factory-installed 2-inch suspension lift, red vertical recovery hooks, and off-road mud terrain-rated Goodyear Wrangler tires. The interior is incredibly luxurious as it has heated and ventilated front perforated-leather seats and heated leather-wrapped steering wheels. It has a Bose Premium Sound System with a Richbass subwoofer and contains a wireless charging pad for your convenience.
Stepping up, the AT4X is even more equipped for handling the trails. It has a variety of advanced American Expedition Vehicle (AEV) features, including AEV stamped-steel front bumpers, AEV hot-stamped boron steel front approach skid plates, and terrain mode, which is ideal for low-speed, off-road conditions. It also has a redesigned front fascia and grille with gloss-black upper and dark nickel inserts that really make it stand out. Driving in it will prove to be incredibly enjoyable, as it has a 12-speaker Bose Premium Series with Centerpoint Surround Sound and, arguably best of all when it comes to comfort and luxury, 16-way power front seats with a massage feature.
The Denali and Denali Ultimate: Luxury Stacked on Top of Luxury
Now we come to the real answer to the initial question of which trim offers the most luxury, and that would be the Denali and Denali Ultimate. These trims offer some of the latest and greatest technology when it comes to this truck. In fact, these trucks have over 40 inches of combined digital displays for you to utilize with available Google Built-In compatibility.
What’s more luxury than having your vehicle do the driving for you? Starting with the Denali trim, you can add the available Super Cruise technology. Let your vehicle handle cruising pre-programmed highways at speed, slowing as needed, changing lanes, and it even works when you are towing.
When it comes to comfort and interior design, it is also difficult to beat the Denali and Denali Ultimate. For example, the Denali features perforated Forge leather, patterned aluminum trim, Walnut wood details, embroidered Denali logos, and ten-way power front seats with two-way lumbar control. The Denali Ultimate is decked out in Alpine Umber with full-grain leather seating, exclusive badging, Paldao wood accents, a topographical map of Mt Denali, and sixteen-way front seats with messaging.
The outside of the Denali and Denali Ultimate have dual-projector LED headlamps and daytime running lamps with fade-on and fade-off animated lighting sequences. Also, they have the unique, signature Denali grille finished in Vader Chrome, providing an incredibly satisfying look. The Denali Ultimate has fender badging and completely exclusive 22-inch low-gloss black wheels. The Ultimate also features the world’s first six-function MultiPro Tailgate that comes with a KICKER audio system.
The GMC Sierra 1500: Luxury-Filled and Best in Its Class
Overall, the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 has quite a bit to offer when it comes to luxury features at any trim level. Still, if you want the most this truck has to offer, the Denali and Denali Ultimate are the trims to look at unless you are an off-roader, in which case you’ll probably want to opt for the AT4 or AT4X. The GMC Sierra doesn’t hold back on luxury, comfort, and convenience. There are a lot of features that are shared between the trims, such as large interior spaces, bold bumpers, fascia, and grille designs.
Pickup trucks have come a long way from being just work companions. They serve as many people’s daily drivers, and more and more drivers are demanding comfortable materials and advanced technology that does more than just get the job done. Sure, if you just want a touch of luxury in your workday, but don’t want something that could get messed up by some mud, then the Pro might be the truck for you with its more-basic features. If luxury features are the predominant draw, but you need to stay within a particular budget range, the SLT, SLE, or Elevation would be ideal. However, if you have the budget and the desire, there is a lot of luxury to be had with the Denali line.
Overall, the GMC Sierra trims are all fantastically designed, rugged, and durable, with features that allow it to perform exceptionally well in a variety of conditions, from difficult weather to navigating the city to off-road adventures and everything in between. Now, are you going to travel to work in a truck like the Pro Graphite Edition that adds a little flair to the basic work truck, or are you going to treat yourself to a truck that has all of the bells, whistles, and best interior materials? Either way, the GMC Sierra 1500 is going to add a touch (or a lot) of luxury to your day.
