For 2024, a refreshed design and new technology create a new generation of off-road prowess. It pushes new boundaries with its unbeatable 4×4 capability, powered by an impressive line-up from the electrified 4xe plug-in hybrid to the thunderous V8-powered Rubicon 392. But the new Wrangler is more than just an adrenaline rush. A redesigned interior offers new comfort and safety features along with available technology like trail maps, which can be displayed on a 12.3-inch digital touchscreen. A range of soft and hard tops carry over into the new Wrangler, along with the new Sky One-Touch Powertop. This option folds the roof all the way back accordion-style into overlapping folds, opening both front and rear seats to the glorious day. If the weather changes, just push a button, and it closes right back up again.

King of Off-Road
Let’s start with a look at what gives the Wrangler its legendary off-road prowess. First, a body-on-frame design gives it unrivaled rock-crawling capabilities. Most SUVs in the modern era have unibody designs. To deal with the stresses of hard-core off-roading, a stronger body-on-frame structure is a must.
The Wrangler goes beyond that. Jeep makes many of this off-road warrior’s components out of high-strength aluminum, including the doors, hood, fender flares, and more. The swing gate is magnesium. These metals not only provide extra rigidity but also reduce weight for better balance in precarious situations. Plus, lighter weight improves on-road fuel economy. Meanwhile, if the Wrangler does get caught momentarily on a rock, four skid plates on the underside protect the most vulnerable components.
The Wrangler’s five-link coil suspension carries over for 2024. This proven system uses two upper and two lower control arms made of high-strength steel in both the front suspension and the five-link rear suspension. Track bars in the front and rear improve lateral control of the axles. In Rubicon models, a front sway bar disconnect enables additional wheel travel when needed. The shocks are tuned for off-road use while also providing good on-road comfort and handling.
In the unlikely event that the Wrangler gets into a situation it can’t get out of, Rubicon models feature a factory-installed Warn winch with 8,000 pounds of pulling capacity that can set it free. Wrangler drivers will probably use the winch more often to pull their friends’ Fords, Chevys, and Toyotas out of the gully that the Wrangler climbed out of with its usual agility.
If you want even more off-roading ability, step up to the Wrangler Willys edition. The Willys name pays tribute to the Jeep company’s predecessor who built the legendary and rugged military jeeps that helped to win World War II. True to its namesake, the Wrangler Willys won’t be defeated by any trail. With a Tru-Lok rear locking differential, steel rock rails, 33-inch tires, and other heavy-duty features, the Willys is one of the Wrangler’s most confidence-inspiring off-road packages.
A New but Familiar Face
For 2024, Jeep redesigned the Wrangler’s distinctive face, yet it remains clearly a Wrangler. The overall look of the iconic grille is rounder, with the circular headlights now overlapping slightly with the outer bars of the grille. The overall look is arguably a bit cleaner and more modern, yet it remains the distinctive seven-bar design that it has been for generations. This new bodywork comes in ten exterior colors for the new model year.
The grille is still flanked by high fender flares that reveal the front suspension’s off-road levels of wheel travel. The rear fenders are flared, too, while the overall body retains its distinctive square shape. Rugged bumpers still protect deep-set fog lights from brush and other hazards, while on Rubicon models the front bumper offers a mounting point for the optional Warn winch.
The Wrangler offers ten wheel designs for 2024. Ranging from 17 to 20 inches, they can be paired with tires that run from 32 to 35 inches. On the Xtreme 35 Package available on Willys and Rubicon trims, 35-inch tires are matched with 17-inch beadlock wheels for extra off-road protection.
Interior refinements help the Wrangler continue to shed its Spartan image as a no-frills off-roader. A clean, redesigned center stack integrates well with the horizontal dashboard. New soft-touch surfaces and contrast stitching provide a touch of luxury while still standing up to mud and dust. Certain trim levels offer 12-way power-adjustable front seats. Mounting points for AMPS brackets make it easier to mount your electronic devices. Front and rear side-curtain airbags come standard for 2024 for additional safety, along with the existing front driver and passenger airbags.
Off-Road Goes High-Tech
The redesigned cabin makes an excellent showcase for the 2024 Wrangler’s suite of technology features. The star of this show is the brand-new 12.3-inch touchscreen display. This screen is not only the largest ever installed in the Wrangler, but it’s also the largest in its class. In addition to controlling functions like the stereo system and climate controls, it supports the Uconnect 5 system, Jeep’s fifth-generation smart control system. Uconnect supports navigation, a backup camera with guidelines, vehicle health reports, and phone connectivity with access to select apps.
Wrangler is the first Jeep, and the first vehicle anywhere, to take satellite navigation to a place it’s never gone before: off-road. Jeep’s new Trails Offroad tool provides trail guides for all of Jeep’s Badge of Honor trails from New Hampshire to California. The guides include difficulty ratings, key waypoints, points of interest, and more. It’s the kind of innovation you’d expect from the leader in off-road adventure.
A full set of safety and driver assist technologies make Wrangler as competent on blacktop as it is on rocks, sand, and mud. Full front and side airbags protect every occupant. Available safety features (standard on some trim levels) include Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring, Automatic High-Beam Headlights, and the Parksense rear parking assistance system with the rear backup camera. Under the skin, a high-strength steel chassis maximizes crash protection.
Technology extends beneath the hood, too. Select Wrangler trim levels are available with Jeep’s ultra-efficient 4xe hybrid drivetrain. This powertrain combines two electric motors and a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine. Putting its power to the pavement through an eight-speed automatic transmission, it delivers unparalleled fuel efficiency for its class despite producing a total of 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.
Wranglers powered by 4xe can run in hybrid gas-electric mode or in electric-only mode until the 400-volt battery reaches minimum charge. It also has an eSave mode that’s ideal for both the city and off-roading. Some 4xe models also offer a new-for-2024 Power Box feature with four outlets for charging your electronic devices.
