The Kia lineup for model year 2019 has been as good as it gets, and so far what I’ve seen for 2020 is just as good if not better. With so many different vehicles to choose from it is easy to get lost in the lineup and not even know where to look first. For my money, if I was at a Kia dealership, these are the six vehicles that I would check out first.
In order of MSRP, rather than any personal preference, I would start off with the 2020 Kia Soul – that’s right, I’m already looking at 2020 models. We’re living in the future! The 2020 Soul has a lot going on at a very reasonable price and is a great choice if you want a small SUV. From there, the 2020 Sportage continues its trend of ruggedness and reliability with some of the best tech features anywhere, at a very reasonable price. Of course, if I was looking for a larger SUV, then the 2020 Kia Telluride would immediately catch my eye, and it will catch yours too.
For cars, I’m still living here in 2019 so the 2019 Kia Rio is a great choice that offers excellent features and performance at a very low price. The 2019 Optima is a great step up from there, with tremendous safety features standard and solid tech options overall. Finally, I can’t help but love the 2019 Kia K900, a luxury car that requires no upgrades.
The 2020 Kia Soul
Starting off at just $17,490 MSRP, this is a slick little SUV that doesn’t skimp on the tech and entertainment features. One of the things I’ve always appreciated about Kia is how they combine great tech and reliability at a very reasonable price. The 2020 Soul has an available 10-inch touchscreen display and an available Harmon/Kardon sound system with dynamic mood lighting. Is that entirely necessary? No. Is it really cool? Oh yeah!
There are available LED headlights and even an available head-up display (one of my favorite features on vehicles these days), plus available smart cruise control. If you hit up your local Kia dealership looking for a small SUV that can have everything you want or need in it, then this is a great choice. It’s definitely where I would start, and even though it’s a small SUV, it still has up to 62 cu.ft. of storage space behind the front seat.
The 2020 Kia Sportage
While the Soul is great, I can’t help but notice the Sportage has even more to offer, and it starts off at just $23,990 MSRP. If I was wandering about my local Kia dealership (who doesn’t do that sometimes?), seeing what’s new and moving from model to model, I would naturally drift toward the 2020 Sportage. How could you not? It’s gorgeous, and there are tons of features packed into this little beast.
While I like the available 240 hp Turbo engine and the smart power liftgate, both of which make the Sportage much more user-friendly, what really catches my eye with this one are the standard features. An 8-inch touchscreen comes standard, along with support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In terms of safety features, auto emergency braking and lane keep assist both come standard – those are usually options even on much more expensive vehicles. The 2020 Kia Telluride
Trust me, the moment you go to a Kia dealership, the 2020 Telluride is going to catch your eye because it is impossible to resist. It starts off at $31,690 MSRP, so it’s certainly the most expensive SUV I would consider, but that price is more than justified. This monster has seating for either 7 or 8 people, depending on the configuration you choose, and includes some of the best features you will find anywhere. Its larger size means you get up to 87 cu.ft. of cargo space, making it the perfect choice to load up for a road trip or to go camping.
It has an available 10-inch touchscreen display with an available head-up display (I know I’ve said this already, but seriously, I love that HUDs are becoming more and more common). There is an available Driver Talk feature that can amplify the driver’s voice for rear passengers, as well as a Quiet Mode that only uses the front-row speakers – perfect for when kids fall asleep in the back seats. Safety features include available blind spot view monitor, highway driving assist, as well as a surround view monitor that gives you a virtual bird’s eye view of your vehicle and surroundings.
The 2019 Kia Rio
Just because there are some great 2020 models to check out at your Kia dealership, doesn’t mean we should leave all the 2019s behind. The 2019 Rio, for example, is a great little sedan that starts at just $15,390 MSRP and offers great features and performance. This is certainly the first car I would check out at a dealership, but probably not the last (just saying, that K900 is calling to me).
The Rio has an available 7-inch touschscreen display with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. I always look at safety features, of course, and the Rio doesn’t disappoint here. There is available forward collision warning, a forward collision avoidance assist system, and numerous airbags to help keep you safe. The Rio is a great place to start, but there’s more for you to see.
The 2019 Kia Optima
It’s hard for me to argue with what the Optima offers, particularly in terms of its standard safety features, which get me every time. The 2019 Optima at your Kia dealership starts off at $22,990 MSRP, and while my first instinct is to feel like that’s kind of high, once I looked at what it includes, my mind quickly changed. Sure there are great available options like a panoramic sunroof and a 10-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system, but the standard safety features are what really got me.
The 2019 Kia Optima includes blind spot collision warning with rear cross-traffic collision warning standard. It also has forward collision avoidance assist and a parking distance warning when you’re in reverse, again both are standard. These are features you usually have to pay extra for, even on more expensive vehicles. The Optima also includes a lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and driver attention warning – plus if you want more features, there is an available surround view monitor and smart cruise control with stop and go.
The 2019 Kia K900
Finally, in this virtual perusal of a Kia dealership, we come to the 2019 K900, which starts off at $59,900 MSRP. Yeah, that’s a high price for a Kia, but the included features certainly justify it in my book. The K900 comes with a 12-inch touchscreen display with Navigation, selectable interior mood lighting, blind spot monitor, and a 365 hp 3.3L Twin Turbo V6 engine all standard.
Heated and ventilated VIP rear reclining seats are available, as is a wireless phone charger. Otherwise, however, the standard specs are truly impressive and include essentially the full suite of Kia’s safety features. Lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, a haptic steering wheel and more are all included at the MSRP.
