Marvel-ous Motoring: Pairing the Avengers With Their Perfect Car

Hello, true believers! We’re currently in a bit of a lull when it comes to Avengers content after the Avengers: Endgame wrapped up Phase 3 back in 2019, but those industrious Russo brothers are already cooking up the next installment with Avengers: Doomsday set to hit the theaters in early 2026. The series has grossed nearly $7.5 billion since the original film was released in 2012, and serves as the backbone of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) that’s brought in over $31 billion to become the most successful franchise in cinematic history.

In honor of this prolific run, we thought we’d take a moment to ask one of the MCU’s most burning questions. We’re not talking about the true identity of the Mandarin, the fate of the Red Skull, or the physics behind Ant-Man’s transformations, but something even more important. What cars would some of our favorite Avengers drive when they’re not zipping around on the Quinjet? From a sporty spider-mobile and miniature microcar to an all-American classic and an EV pickup fit for the Hulk, read on as we ponder what sort of cars these comic book heroes might fire up when they’re not busy saving the world.

Captain America: Ford F-150

We’ll start with Cap himself, Mr. Steve Rogers. While Captain America has been seen driving a Volkswagen Beetle and Audi SQ7, and Chris Evans was gifted a classic 1967 Chevrolet Camaro by Robert Downey Jr., we can’t help but select the most American of all rides for the head Avenger. The F-150 is not only America’s best-selling truck but also the most popular vehicle from California to the New York island and beyond, with nearly 500,000 units sold in 2024 alone. We’ll stick with the traditional gas-powered version here instead of the F-150 Lighting, as EV technology would likely confound a man born in 1918. The pickup features a full range of potent powertrains, starting with a 325-hp twin-turbocharged 2.7L V6. A 400-hp 5.0L V8 and 400-hp twin-turbo 3.5L V6 round out the purely internal combustion options, while a hybrid powertrain combines a twin-turbo 3.5L V6 with a 47-hp electric motor to provide up to 430 hp. The hybrid offers over 700 miles of range, and the twin-turbo 3.5L V6 stands out in towing with a maximum capacity of 13,000 lbs.

Captain America tends to take a pretty low-tech approach to combat, largely relying on his shield and the peak strength, speed, and reflexes afforded to him by the Super Soldier Serum, but the F-150 is a different story altogether. From its optional onboard generator and new-and-improved SYNC 4 infotainment system to Wi-Fi hotspot and the industry’s leading hands-free driver assistance system in BlueCruise, the 2025 F-150 is ready to do battle with any of its pickup competitors. A premium Bang and Olufsen stereo system will allow Steve and Peggy Carter to enjoy their favorite tunes from the big band era on date night, provided they can figure out the intricacies of Bluetooth connectivity. The prohibitive cost of Vibranium and the fact that Wakanda isn’t a real place mean that Ford had to opt for a fully boxed high-strength steel frame for the F-150. Still, it’s a satisfying substitute that gives the truck the rigidity and strength it needs to handle those demanding feats of strength like heavy-duty towing and extreme off-road use. The F-150 also features a military-grade aluminum-alloy body that’s sure to appeal to the U.S. Army colonel. Offering a seamless mix of strength and low weight, the aluminum-alloy body allows the F-150 to deliver impressive efficiency while standing up to the rigors of the pickup world.

Black Widow: McLaren Artura Spider

Marvel’s resident femme fatale deserves a ride that reflects her arachnidian moniker, and the McLaren Artura Spider is just that car. Powered by a plug-in-hybrid powertrain that combines a formidable V6 with a 7.4-kWh battery and a motor, the McLaren Artura Spider claims 690 hp and a top speed of 205 mph. That’s enough power to shoot from zero to 60 mph quicker than Thanos can snap his fingers, thanks to a launch control system dubbed the Spinning Wheel Pull-Away mode that gives the McLaren a reported time of just 3.0 seconds. The Artura Spider is every bit as sleek as the Marvel heroine with several black hues on offer, not to mention a Carbon Black Alcantara leather interior that looks like it was lifted straight out of Ms. Romanoff’s closet.

The McLaren isn’t the only arachnid-inspired model on the market. In fact, the term “spider/spyder” is a unique bit of automotive jargon used to refer to a sporty convertible car. Originally used to describe roofless two-seaters, the term now encompasses any coupe that prioritizes that wind-in-your-hair feeling. McLaren is a particularly big proponent of the designation, but Fiat, Ferrari, Mazda, Alfa Romeo, and others have all used the term for their own convertible models. American drivers might be most familiar with the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder, a two-door convertible produced between 1996 and 2011. The McLaren Artura Spider is a little pricey at $273,800, but that’s still just around 1/700th the cost of the average Marvel film.

Hulk: Chevy Silverado EV

While the F-150 Lighting and the God of Thunder seem like an obvious pairing, that’s almost too easy. Instead, we opted for another all-electric pickup combining green technology with a massive frame that would make Dr. Bruce Banner proud. The Silverado EV is the largest EV on the market with a total length of 233 inches and an 8,800-lb curb weight that rivals the heft of the Hulk himself. The Silverado EV isn’t just enormous when it comes to the overall length. The truck also boasts some of the best range in the all-electric pickup class thanks to its 205 kWh battery. The Silverado EV is the second model to employ GM’s 205 kWh Ultium battery, which initially debuted on the Hummer EV Pickup. The massive battery is nothing less than a revelation in the EV segment, where the average range still hovers around 300 miles with the Ultium pack providing up to 492 miles of driving range on a single charge. That’s plenty of range to get you to Asgard and back in time for dinner, but the sustainable Silverado also earns points for its rapid charging with the ability to add 100 miles in as little as 10 minutes when connected to a DC charging station.

The Silverado EV holds the same transformative potential as the Hulk thanks to a set of removable roof panels that give the pickup a unique open-air, T-top design. These removable panels would give even the largest Avenger plenty of headroom and serve as an expansive glass sunroof when seeking protection from the elements or some wayward gamma radiation. The Silverado EV is packed with enough cutting-edge technology to intimidate Iron Man, including a 13.4-inch infotainment display, Wi-Fi hotspot, a full suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and GM’s impressive Super Cruise hands-free driving technology that allows drivers to sit back, relax and ponder the mysteries of nuclear physics on over 750,000 miles of compatible roads across the United States and Canada. If there’s one thematic drawback to the Silverado EV, it would have to be the fact that there’s no green option for the exterior paint. Drivers will be limited to a Summit White or Black hue that, while striking, lacks the verdant appeal of everyone’s favorite green giant.

Ant-Man: Peel P50

The Marvel franchise’s most diminutive hero would feel right at home behind the wheel of the Peel P50, which holds the Guinness World Record for the smallest car to ever make its way onto the mass market. The P50 measures just 4.5 feet in length, but it’s the microcar’s minuscule weight that really caught our attention. Somehow, the Peel Engineering Company produced a fully operational car weighing just 130 lbs. To put that number into context, 130 lbs is roughly the same weight as the tires you’d find on the average car or small crossover.

How did Peel manage to create a ride that only Scott Lang could love? The engine is the real highlight with the P50 employing a 0.049L single-cylinder design. The most surprising aspect of the ant-sized engine isn’t its displacement or 100 MPG fuel economy but its speed. While the P50 only had 4.2 hp to its name, its lightweight construction meant that it could reach the surprisingly blistering pace of 38 mph. That might not be enough speed to outrun Dr. Darren Cross or his later MODOK incarnation, but it would be perfect for cruising through the Quantum Realm.

The P50 was designed as a city car that Peel proudly proclaimed could accommodate “one adult and a shopping bag”, though there was one major drawback. In an effort to simplify the powertrain, the three-speed manual transmission didn’t include a reverse option, forcing drivers to physically exit the vehicle and lift it by the rear handle when they needed to make a tight turn. The P50 enjoyed a production run to match its size, with only 50 units produced, which is just slightly more than the 34 Marvel movies produced since Iron Man hit theaters in 2008. This exclusivity has allowed the P50 to become a real collector’s item, with surviving models fetching up to $176,000 at auction despite an initial sale price of just £299.
