2018 GMC Sierra

Performance and Capability

The 2018 GMC Sierra is available with two engine options: the EcoTec 5.3L eAssist Engine and the 6.2L V8 Engine with 420 horsepower. With the most horsepower in a V8 engine, these two options will have truck fans ready to speed off the lot in style.

If trailering capacity is an important factor for you, then check out these specs: The 2018 GMC Sierra packs a punch with a 12,500 lb trailering capacity and plenty of extra features to make trailering that much more convenient. This new GMC truck has a number of capability features, including a suite of trailering technologies such as trailer sway control, hill start assist, rear vision camera system, a standard tow/haul mode with powertrain grade braking, and trailering circuits to hook up turn signals and brake lights. These are just a few perks that the trailering package offers. For a light duty truck, GMC manufacturer’s have built a superior vehicle with plenty of power.

And let’s not forget about off-road options and capability. When it comes to trucks, buyers want a vehicle that can handle any weather and terrain. And this 2018 GMC Sierra doesn’t disappoint. This new truck model is replete with an off-road suspension, protective underbody shielding, performance exhaust system, high capacity air cleaner, off-road inclinometer, as well as a locking rear differential to improve traction and control, among a number of other perks and benefits. With killer specs and smart capability features, we think this 2018 truck is leading strongly in this competition.

Interior and Connectivity

It’s 2018, so we want to see some smart, high-tech features when it comes to interior connectivity. The 2018 GMC Sierra has some serious style and convenience features that we can’t wait to rave about.

Perhaps the most high-tech capability this truck has to offer is its wireless charging station in the center console. Gone are the days when you have to rely on buying a charger from the gas station and mess around with all of those wires. Now, you can simply set your phone down and it’s charged. But that’s not the only high tech feature this vehicle offers. The 2018 GMC Sierra is equipped with a built-in WiFi hotspot, an 8-inch color touch screen display which includes GPS, smartphone integration, Apple CarPlay, as well as a number of other apps and services. If staying connected is important to you, then we can’t recommend this vehicle enough.

However, it’s not all about connectivity. The interior design utilizes a quiet tuning system which has triple-sealed doors so outside noise is prevented from reaching the cabin. Additionally, the interior has some serious style with black leather seating, a black interior, leather-wrapped steering wheel, as well as plenty of legroom to make every ride spacious and comfortable. This is a truck you’re definitely going to want to show off around town.

Next up, we’ll take a look at the 2018 Ram 1500 to see if it can compare to the 2018 GMC Sierra.

2018 Ram 1500

Performance and Capability

The 2018 Ram 1500 is available with three engine options: the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 Engine, the 5.7L HEMI V8 Engine, and the 3.6L Pentastar V6 Engine. With a maximum of 395 horsepower and the towing capacity of 10,500 lbs, this is a pretty powerful vehicle but still doesn’t stand up against the 2018 GMC Sierra.

When it comes to capability and convenience features, however, this truck still hits some of the marks. The 2018 Ram 1500 includes hill start assist, an integrated trailer hitch, and trailer sway control. However, without some of the extras like a tow/haul mode, the GMC Sierra is still in the lead in this race.

The 2018 Ram 1500 is equipped with some stellar safety features, to make up for some of its subpar performance capabilities. This truck includes side impact door beams, electronic stability control, and a front and rear park assist system.

Interior and Connectivity

The interior of the 2018 Ram 1500 has some stylish features, including leather seats, wood accents, and a high tech command center. However, without the extensive connectivity options of the 2018 GMC Sierra, we think this Ram truck is losing this race.

The 2018 Ram 1500 is equipped with an 8.4-inch touchscreen that includes navigation, Apple CarPlay, and smartphone integration. The interior also has cargo room in mind with in-floor storage and spacious seating. With a stylish interior that matches its aggressive exterior, this Ram truck still gets a few points in our book.
