Based on the title of this article, you probably already have some kind of idea what it’s going to be about. So, instead of just reiterating the theme of the piece, I’m going to take you back to a time when I was a young(er) lad. Instead of cruising around town in Chevy cars, I was riding in a minivan. Sure, I wasn’t too enthused to be driving around in a mom car, but it was my only option. Little did I know that this vehicle would turn into my personal oasis. I pulled off everything in that vehicle, legal and potentially, probably not (but probably) illegal. I slept (several times) in that van. I stored everything in that van. I also drove it everywhere. Eventually, I had to give it up, but writing about vehicles had me thinking: which ride would be the best to live in? There were some obvious requirements: it had to be spacious, it needed to be comfortable, and it needed to some technology.
I quickly landed on the 2019 Chevy Suburban, which led me to what you’re about to read. This isn’t meant to discredit the SUV; rather, when you read about the nameplate, you’ll learn how impressive it really is. More simply, I’m just looking to answer a legendary question: which vehicle can I live in? Well, here are the reasons why the Suburban would make for an excellent option (along with some reasons why this nameplate is also a can’t-miss option for those not looking to live in their vehicle)…
Reason #1: Can Easily Get Away
We all need some time to ourselves, and there’s a good chance that you need to get away from the world. Well, if you’re in a bit of a time crunch, it’s more than easy to zoom away from your worries when you’re traveling and spending your commute living in the 2019 Chevy Suburban.
That’s because the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine delivers all of the power you could possibly want. At the end of the day, drivers can ultimately anticipate 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, providing drivers with more than enough muscle to get away in a hurry.
Plus, thanks to these incredible power specs, drivers won’t have any issues with hauling. The 2019 Chevy Suburban is ultimately capable of delivering an 8,300-pound maximum towing capacity. Therefore, if you have any cargo (or equipment) that won’t fit inside the SUV, you’ll be more than prepared to haul it behind your ride.
Best of all, it won’t cost you an arm and a leg to fill up your giant SUV. Despite the incredible power specs, the 2019 Chevy Suburban still manages to deliver incredible efficiency numbers. The V8 engine is ultimately capable of promising a 22-mile-per-gallon highway fuel efficiency, making it plenty affordable to keep your ride running.
Reason #2: There’s Plenty of Room to be Comfortable
Sure, living in an SUV might not be the most comfortable setup, but the Chevy Suburban ends up providing more than enough room for you to spread out. This will also be appreciated by those who are going to be relying on their new SUV as a family vehicle.
When owners take advantage of the clever power-release second-row and power-fold-flat third-row seats, they’ll unlock an incredible 121.7-cubic-feet of space. While this roominess is usually reserved for cargo like luggage and equipment, it should suffice if you’re simply going to be placing down a couple of pillows and blankets. If you’re parked in a sketchy area and attempting to be a bit more inconspicuous, you could easily fit into the 39.3-cubic-feet of space behind the third row (however, based on experience, this isn’t necessarily advised).
You can even throw a party thanks to the seating for up to nine adults (the second-row seats can even be heated… so go ahead and host that Christmas party. Sure, the party may not be all that exciting, but at least you have the option!
Finally, if you’re hoping to have a restful night’s sleep, you can rest easy knowing that the sound-deadening materials will have your back. Inclusions like the acoustic-laminated windshield, triple-sealed doors, and the insulated exterior and interior will cut down on that howling wind. While these inclusions are mostly intended to reduce any distractions while you’re jamming out to your radio, we’ll consider this another notable living amenity.
Reason #3: You Can Stay Entertained
Now, we know what you’re thinking: if someone is living in a vehicle, how will they cope with their inevitable, never-ending boredom? Fortunately, that won’t be a concern if you’re living in the 2019 Chevy Suburban. After all, the SUV is equipped with a number of technological amenities that will keep you entertained at all times (even when you’re relying on your SUV as… well, as an SUV).
The eight-inch-diagonal touchscreen display allows you to access your favorite radio stations with the simple click of a screen, and you can also connect your smartphone thanks to the accompanying Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. There’s also 4G LTE Wi-Fi, allowing you to stay on the grid (while you’re living off the grid). If you’re worried about your gadgets staying juiced, then you can easily turn to the 14 charging locations that are included throughout the interior. There’s even a roomy center console, providing you with a clever space to hide your more expensive possessions.
You can even opt for a Rear-Seat Entertainment System, which will legitimately make the rear of your SUV an upgrade to an ordinary, standard dorm room (this is also based on experience). We’re sincere; this offering includes screens in both the second and third rows, and the HDMI connector allows you to connect your favorite device (including game consoles) easily. The system includes Blu-Ray playback, making it easy to enjoy your favorite movies, while the wireless digital headphones mean you can watch these movies without disturbing any of your guests (or passengers).
#4: You Can Stay Safe
Thanks to the array of safety functions that are included in the 2019 Chevy Suburban, drivers will never have to worry about their well-being. Now, we’re not trying to imply that these features will serve as a personal bodyguard or anything. However, when you’re actually operating the SUV, these inclusions will preserve the well-being of you and your guests.
For instance, the Low-Speed Forward Automatic Braking can detect when a collision is imminent, and it can adjust the brakes to help prevent a collision from occurring altogether. Of course, that might not even be necessary thanks to the Forward Collision Alert. This system relies on sensing technologies to determine when the SUV is approaching another vehicle at too great of speed, and it will then warn the driver via audible and visual cues (it can also alert the driver via the clever Safety Alert Seat).
On the highway, drivers will appreciate the Lane Change Alert (with Side Blind Zone Alert), which will warn the driver when another vehicle has snuck up beside them. These inclusions will also be useful in parking lots. The Rear Vision Camera allows drivers to monitor everything that’s happening behind their SUV at all times, while the Rear Cross Traffic Alert will notify the driver when another object (whether it be a vehicle or person) is about to cross behind the Suburban. There’s even a Rear Park Assist, which can help guide the hulking SUV into the tightest parking spot.
So there you have it. We most certainly don’t recommend living in your 2019 Chevy Suburban, but for those long drives with the family or endless commutes to work, this class leading SUV can leaving you feeling every bit at home behind the wheel. If you are looking for a way to feel at home when away from home, you can’t go wrong with the 2019 Chevy Suburban.
